Meetings & Events


Monthly business meetings of the Board are held on each first Thursday of the month at 1 PM. Membership meetings are usually held on each third Thursday of the month at 7:30 PM. Unless otherwise announced, meetings will be held at the Stafford County Administrative Center located at 1300 Courthouse Road at the corner of US Hwy 1.

Christmas Party

The Stafford County Historical Society will hold its annual member Christmas party on December 20, 2018.  The party will be held at the Rowser Building and begins at 6:30.  We ask that everyone bring a dish to share. John J. Hennessy, chief historian and chief of interpretation at Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park, began his career with the National Park Service at Manassas NB a very long time ago. Clara Barton

With Don Pfanz Clarissa (Clara) Barton was a pioneering American nurse who founded the American Red Cross. She was a hospital nurse in the American Civil War. After the First Battle of Bull Run, Barton placed an ad in a Massachusetts newspaper for supplies; the response was a profound influx of supplies.
